Swindon Direct

The strategic lead for the Family Information Service in Swindon sits with Swindon Sure Start Partnership at Swindon Borough Council.

As part of the delivery of this duty Swindon Direct provides services to the general public and Swindon’s childcare providers as outlined below:

• Answering simple childcare queries from parents using the information that is publicly available on the Swindon Borough Council website.
• Referring complex childcare queries from parents to Swindon Sure Start Partnership.
• Maintaining the Ofsted childcare registration and family services data on the Family Information Directory. This includes recording new and closed registrations, amending enhanced data from providers on request and regularly auditing data.
• Providing information to people who are interested in working in childcare including prospective childminders.
• Providing information about local childcare market capacity to individuals and organisations planning to set up new childcare services in Swindon.

Queries from childcare providers that fall outside of the scope of this work are redirected to Swindon Sure Start Partnership, the appropriate department at Swindon Borough Council or other agency.
