High Hedges
Description of Service
A high hedge is defined as ‘any two evergreen or semi-evergreen trees or shrubs growing next to each other, which are taller than two metres’.
Legislation covering high hedges was introduced within the Antisocial Behaviour Act, 2003. Part 8 of this Act gives local authorities powers to determine complaints submitted by householders in respect of a neighbour's high hedge.
Service Levels
It is important to note that the purpose of the legislation is to involve the Council only as a last resort, when all other reasonable efforts to resolve the dispute have been exhausted.
If, you believe that all other avenues to resolve the problem have been exhausted, please contact us. We aim to respond initially to your complaints and requests within two working days; although full resolution will take longer, depending on the nature and circumstances of the individual situation.
