Training for April 2012 - March 2013: Invitation to Training Providers

We are currently planning our Training Programme for April 2012 - March 2013.

If you would like to be considered to become an approved training provider for the Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (Early Years Pathway) please submit the New Provider template by 7th February.

If you would like to submit a quote to deliver the Swindon Childminders Pre-Registration Course please submit the quote template by the 17th February.

Important - Change of venue for all First Aid courses

Please note that the venue for all First Aid courses scheduled for between now and the end of March has changed.

First Aid courses will no longer be held at BSS House but will take place at the following address

Speech & Language and Using BRISC

Please be aware that the BRISC courses listed as taking place on 9th February will actually be taking place on 9th March. This was an error in the original timetable.

Reminder

When booking your courses please ensure you follow the booking policies and procedures as detailed on pages d2 and d3 of our training plan. Booking forms should be sent in no later than 3 weeks prior to the course start date. Should you wish to attend a course that is commencing in less than 3 weeks please call the office to check there are places available. Due to Health & Safety regulations you are not permitted to just turn up at a training session on the assumption that you will have a place as we may have reached maximum numbers and you may be turned away.

Due to demand we have added a further First Aid course and a further Food Safety course to the timetable.If you would like to book a place please forward your booking form and payment as soon as possible.

Additional Courses

We are pleased to offer two new courses for the new year. Both courses are offered free of charge but non-attendance / cancellation fees apply. If you would like to book a place on either of these courses please forward a booking form as soon as possible.

Health & Safety Premises Management training

Course Aims: To ensure delegates who are responsible for the day to day control and management of a Pre School, Day Nursery or Children's Centre, appreciate their role in ensuring their premises are safe for staff, children, visitors, contractors etc.

To ensure delegates have general awareness of how to manage the principal hazards associated with premises including Asbestos and Legionella, contractors, visitors, first aid, fire, bomb threats etc

Course: Toddler Talk

Info: This short and practical workshop will introduce you to I CAN’s ‘Toddler Talk’ resource. It focuses on activities to develop children’s speech, language and communication development in the early years, particular for those children who you need to ‘monitor’. This resource is suitable for using with groups and in home visits. It is advisable to have attended the ‘BRISC and Typical Development’ course beforehand. There is a one FREE copy of this resource for each non-maintained settings and children’s centres. Unfortunately childminders and maintained settings will need to purchase their own pack available from: https://shop.ican.org.uk/node/15

Language Rich Environments

The Speech & Language team have taken the decision to extend the Language Rich Environments course by half and hour from 2012. Please note therefore the earlier start time for the following course dates.

26th January will take place 17:30 - 20:00

27th February will take place 09:30 - 12:00
