Three and Four Year Old Funding

Funding for Nursery Education will be available to all 3 and 4 year olds in Swindon from April 2004.

From 1st April 2004 all 3 & 4 year olds in Swindon who attend Nursery, Pre-School or Playgroup will receive Nursery Education funding.

Children will be entitled to free early education the term after their 3rd birthday.

Below is a table indicating when children will become eligible in the financial year 2008-2009.

Funding is currently for a maximum of 12.5 hours per week for 38 weeks per year.

2.5 hours is the daily minimum session .

The breakdown of weeks per term are as follows:

Summer term 12.4 weeks,Autumn Term 14.2 weeks and Spring Term 11.4 weeks.

(Each funded 2.5 hour sessions = £8.98. Therefore a child attending 12.5 hours per week is entitled to £44.88 per week).

Parents may choose to use more than 1 provider and the funding can be split.   However, it is the responsibility of the parents to advise the settings of the way they wish the funding to be split.  

Headcount dates for the Year 2008 - 2009 are  as follows:

Summer Term 2008   Closed

Autumn Term 2008    Thursday 18th September 2008

Spring Term 2009      Thursday 15th January 2009

To register your child with a Pre-School, Playgroup or Nursery  please contact the provider of your choice.
