Grants to Group Childcare Provision

In 2010 – 11 groups are offered a variety of grants aimed at sustaining provision to ensure Swindon has sufficient childcare to meet the needs of parents in work or training.

Groups need to be aware that the grant programme is subject to change from year to year dependent on funding availability and local priorities.

There is no guarantee that any grant publicised in this year’s grant programme will be available in future years.

Grants to Pre-schools

Grow Your Pre-school Grant

One off equipment grants of £1,000 are available to preschools reorganising their services to allow parents to access their early education entitlement more flexibly.

Grants to Out of School Groups

New Breakfast and After School Provision

A small amount of funding is available to support the initial set up costs for new breakfast or after school provision to meet extended services and childcare sufficiency requirements.

Out of School Quality Development Grant

A one off equipment grant of £500 is available to standalone out of school clubs that exceed Ofsted qualification requirements.

Sustainability Grant (All Groups)

Sustainability grants can be considered where a group childcare provider meets unexpected financial difficulties.

Applications are considered on a case by case basis. In all cases Swindon Borough Council is the funder of last resort.

Inclusion funding (All Groups)

This funding stream from Sure Start, Early Years and Childcare Grant is available to settings in order to enable a parent to access work or training by providing funding towards the payment of a support worker.

The funding has two categories:

  • Funding towards a one to one support worker for an individual child who has SEN or a disability. Full criteria and funding conditions can be found on the links below:
