The Two Year Old Pilot

From September 2009 a limited number of two year olds who have been identified and referred by a professional working with the family are eligible for up to ten hours of funded two year old early education over a maximum of 38 weeks per year.

This is a pilot scheme funded by the Department of Education. There are a number of documents relevant to settings and professionals involved in the funding process.

Please be aware that we have now reached the budget allocation for 2010/2011 for funding two year olds within the Borough.

Any applications received from this date will be held on file in date order. If children who are currently funded leave the scheme and further funding becomes available, we will then contact parents/professionals on the waiting list to advise.

Providers wishing to participate in the two year old pilot must meet additional requirements over and above the registration requirements for three and four year old early education funding. Further information is available in the downloadable document below:

Once funding has been agreed, unless the family is already registered with a Children’s Centre, the referrer will need to complete and return to the relevant Children’s Centre the request for service form downloadable below:

Two Year Old Pilot – Review Questionnaire

As part of the funding entitlement a regular review should take place with the parents, the key worker at the setting and the Family Support Worker (if one has been assigned). This process should take place after 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year. An exit review should also take place when the child is due to move to the 3 and 4 year nursery funding.  The review document can be downloaded below:

Two Year Old Pilot - Travel Expenses

Providers who incur costs for assisting with travel arrangements should complete the claim form and return on a monthly basis.  Please note that the total amount due will be calculated by SSSP at the current mileage rate.
